Do I need to be licensed/certified to take a course?

No, you do not need to be licensed to enroll in our courses.
Our programs are open to a wide range of professionals, including coaches, educators, mental health providers, and individuals interested in health, wellness, or digital well-being. Some advanced courses may be designed with professionals in mind, but a license is not required unless explicitly stated in the course description.

Do you provide disability accommodations?

What are the requirements for passing a course?

To successfully pass a CE course, you must:

  • Complete 100% of the course content, including all videos, readings, and activities
  • Score at least 75% on any required quizzes

What happens if I fail a quiz?

If you don’t earn a passing score (75% or higher), you’ll have the opportunity to try again.

Course quizzes can be retaken up to 3 times to meet the passing requirement.

What is your refund policy?

For Continuing Education (CE) courses, we do not offer refunds for any on-demand courses. Please make sure to review course details carefully before purchasing.

What is your complaint or grievance policy?

HG Institute is dedicated to conducting all activities in strict conformance with the ethical principles of professional associations that approved our organization to be a provider of continuing education.

HG Institute will comply with all legal and ethical responsibilities to be non-discriminatory in promotional activities, program content and in the treatment of program participants. The monitoring and assessment of compliance with these standards will be the responsibility of the HG Institute Program Administrator in consultation with the members of the Healthy Gamer Scientific Advisory Board Continuing Education Committee.

While HG Institute goes to great lengths to assure fair treatment for all participants and attempts to anticipate problems, issues may arise which require intervention or action on the part of the staff of HG Institute. This written grievance policy guides its response in a timely and ethical manner to complaints.

  1. If the grievance concerns a speaker, the content presented by the speaker, or the style of presentation, the individual filing the grievance will be asked to put their comments in written format. HG Institute will then pass on the comments to the speaker, assuring the confidentiality of the grieved individual.
  2. If the grievance concerns content, level of presentation, or logistical or technical problems, the individual filing the grievance will be asked to put their comments in written format. HG Institute will review and resolve appropriately.
  3. If the grievance concerns the HG Institute CE program, in a specific regard, the individual filing the grievance will be asked to put his/her comments in written format. HG Institute will review and the Program Administrator in consultation with the Continuing Education Committee will provide appropriate arbitration.
  4. Refunds will be managed in compliance with the policy associated with the specific activity.

Dr. Alok Kanojia (Dr. K) is a Harvard-trained psychiatrist and the founder of Healthy Gamer and HG Institute (HGI). Recognized globally as a leading voice in digital mental health and video game addiction, Dr. K blends clinical expertise with deep insight into the mental health needs of digital natives. His experience spans academic research, policy, and clinical care—ranging from Harvard’s residential addiction treatment programs to training over 600 peer support professionals in resilience practices. At HGI, Dr. K pioneers innovative, interdisciplinary solutions for the next generation of care.

Alexandra Waxer, LCSW-S

Alexandra Waxer is the Director of HG Institute (HGI), where she leads initiatives that bridge mental health, technology, and professional development. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisor with expertise in adolescent mental health, Alexandra’s work focuses on suicide prevention, anxiety, and depression in digitally connected youth. At HGI, she designs continuing education and collaborative care models that unite clinicians, coaches, and peer supporters to meet the needs of a tech-driven generation. Outside of work, Alex reads a lot of fantasy and sci-fi and has an ever-growing collection of half-finished craft projects.
